Last year, REI did something different on Black Friday — the outdoor recreational cooperative closed its doors and invited the nation to leave the big-box stores behind and “opt outside.” And, more than a million people did just that by hiking, biking and visiting their local parks.

This year on Black Friday, NRPA is joining REI outside again, and we’d like you to opt outside with us. It’s a perfect opportunity to promote your parks as the place to get outside after Thanksgiving. It’s even a great opportunity to hold a special event for your community.
