NRPA Networks need individuals that will provide leadership and engage Network members in discussion, sharing and overall networking which is a valued part of NRPA membership. Hear what Dirk Richwine, CPRE, Recreation Superintendent from theCity of Henderson (Nevada) Parks and Recreation Department has to say about the benefits of network leadership.

NRPA Network Leadership has been a very rewarding experience for me since I joined the Administrator’s Network in 2008. At that time, the group had a different name and organizational structure. I was fortunate to participate in the realignment of the different groups that helped make the networks consistent. It allowed the networks to interact with each other and develop joint partnerships such as the Research to Practice Round Table and the Mentorship Program with the Young Professionals Network.

My involvement with the Network has been a real pleasure for several reasons. I was able to meet many different people from all over the nation who all share a common commitment to parks and recreation and they have been a tremendous benefit for me to share and discuss various parks and recreation issues. The NRPA staff has also been great to work with. They do a great job and have been very supportive and helpful.

Being involved has allowed me the opportunity to give back to my profession and help others, especially young professionals. This has truly been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience.
