NRPA’s 2021 Parks Build Community is revitalizing Lynnbrook Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. With the 2022 completion of the project, Chattanooga’s Oak Grove community will have a central place where families and friends can gather and where children can play and discover the wonders of nature.

The small, diverse Oak Grove neighborhood has an even mix of Black, Latino and white community members of all ages, more than 1,000 of which have limited access to parks. Improvements to the 1.4-acre Lynnbrook Park will provide those in the community with ready access to quality local parks and recreation. The project will turn the former empty lot with a history of flooding into a safe and welcoming space that features a restored stream, natural and native plantings, rain gardens, new play equipment and spaces to gather.
