Barbara Tulipane, CAE, president and CEO of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) issued the following statement in response to the ongoing debate surrounding the FY18 budget:

“While we are relieved Congress avoided a government shutdown, NRPA urges Congress and the administration to act fast in passing a spending bill that includes long-term funding for critical park and recreation priorities — including the Community Development Block Grant Program and the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) state assistance program. Without these programs, many communities will suffer.”
