Baseball’s ‘Iron Man,’ Cal Ripken, Jr., to deliver the keynote address
Ashburn, Va. (May 13, 2019) — Registration for the 2019 National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Annual Conference is now open. The conference, which will feature more than 200 education sessions, will be held Sept. 24–26, 2019, in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Baltimore Convention Center. Cal Ripken, Jr., known as baseball’s “Iron Man,” will deliver the keynote address, Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at the opening general session. A special closing session with a second keynote presenter (TBD) will be held Sept. 26, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
“We are excited to kick off registration for the 2019 NRPA Annual Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, with the announcement of our keynote, Cal Ripken, Jr.,” said Jack Kardys, chair, NRPA Board of Directors. “In addition to the keynote, we have an exciting week lined up for our members and conference goers alike, and I encourage everyone to register now because you don’t want to miss it.”
In addition to the NRPA general session, there are 12 education tracks that attendees can choose from, including:

- Employee and Volunteer Management
- Health and Wellness
- Leadership and Management
- Planning, Design and Maintenance
- Professional Development
- Public Relations and Marketing
- Recreation and Sports Programming
- Research and Evaluation
- Revenue and Customer Service
These tracks will be presented in a variety of formats, including speed sessions and cutting-edge, director-level sessions. Pre-conference workshops, off-site institutes and leisure tours are available, as well. Attendees interested in an active, lively and memorable education experience are encouraged to attend NRPA’s Learning Playground where you can get on your feet and interact with colleagues.
