New milestone highlights growth and ongoing success of organization
Ashburn, Va. (July 13, 2017) — The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), the nation’s leading non-profit organization dedicated to local parks and recreation, is growing rapidly. Recently, the association reached a new milestone, ending its fiscal year with 60,000 plus members. NRPA membership is comprised of park and recreation professionals and advocates from across the country.
“NRPA is proud to serve so many dedicated members and advocates,” said Barbara Tulipane, CAE, NRPA president and CEO. “As our organization continues to grow, we look forward to expanding opportunities for our members to grow professionally and increasing access to parks and recreation nationally.”
NRPA provides its members with a variety of resources — including education and professional development, networking, research and metrics, advocacy and grant support, and much more. NRPA also publishes a monthly, award-winning magazine titled Parks & Recreation that is distributed to all members and available online at www.parksandrecreation.org.
The association’s annual conference is the industry’s largest drawing 6,000–8,000 attendees annually. This year, the conference will take place Sept. 26–28 in New Orleans, beginning with the dedication of NRPA’s eighth Parks Build Community project, a new playground that’s being constructed along New Orleans’ Lafitte Greenway. NRPA believes everyone deserves a park.
